As we are wholeheartedly committed to the blooming growth of the technology opportunities in and around the Malaga region, I thought it might be useful to collate some new pieces reporting on these exciting developments.

  • Google’s commitment to house their growing Cybersecurity operation in Malaga has been well documented in recent years. What is increasingly interesting is Google’s ambition to turn Malaga in a new iteration of “Silicon Valley”, with the aim of stimulating the Malaga Valley Innovation ecosystem.   • From the University of Malaga – a tech breakthrough that allows users to “hear” music through touch. See the report here. Music Through Touch
  • Quantexa – a recent arrival that opened an office in Malaga’s burgeoning opportunities market, report a dynamic partnership with Vodafone – See the report here – Quantexa and Vodafone
  • A collaboration between the University of Malaga, the Innovation Foundation and the Digital Agency of Andalucia – a cybersecurity shield – that was designed in Malaga and will be rolled out across all Spanish public administration networks after its adoption by the National Crypotological Center (CNN).   • Citigroup, the US financial giant, has made its commitment to Malaga, opening an office and siting a team of analysts here. See the report here Citibank chooses Malaga
  • GP Bullhound – the celebrated UK investment and advisory group behind many cutting-edge tech businesses has established an office in Malaga to offer local talent a vibrant new work environment and to identify opportunities in the growing tech sector. There is every indication that in coming years the tech community of the Costa del Sol, based in and around Malaga, will become an important driver for local enterprise and employment. The recent Digital Nomad legislation, through which Spain plans to embrace and set itself at the forefront of innovation is being welcomed by those those keen to commit to a life in Spain. – Also see here Are you ready to become a Costa del Sol Digital Nomad? And Digital Nomad Visas – An Update

My firm belief is that these stimuli will also engage with those seeking to achieve a more in balanced work and family life. Are younger property buyers really disinterested by cheap booze and all day breakfasts?

The entrepreneurial life is not for everyone but for those driven by an almost myopic commitment to achieving their goals its quite clear that the Costa del Sol is rolling out a red carpet of welcome to you. Malaga is fast competing with the established start-up communities in Madrid and Barcelona.

If you’d like to set a toe in the water in these, perhaps, historically better known start-up locations, you may be keen to see this. Start-up Space Trust me, once you have committed to start your own enterprise our only focus is for you to access the right kind of permaculture where you can grow. If you are in New York, London or Stockholm, it only really matters where you feel you are getting the right sort of support and mentoring to realize your growth and realistic scailability.
