In recent months, particularly following the return in the Summer of direct flights from Newark (NJ) to Malaga, (The Bird Has Landed) we are seeing increased interest from particularly, North Americans, keen to explore the idea of a vacation property or even a wholesale lifestyle change to settle in the Marbella region. Marbella – an Entrepreneur’s Paradise.
This has become even more relevant since Portugal, previously seen as a viable relocation, has removed key tax incentives that made it appear “tax” attractive to the international community.
Additionally, Andalucia, always keen to embrace the world’s wealthy to its shores has abolished Wealth Tax legislation Wealth Tax Abolished In Andalucia. Leading some to comment that Andalucia, now with its generally favourable tax regime – including inheritance tax – believe it or not, now has some attractive aspects of a Tax Haven!
Such demand for Malaga is not limited to USA and Canadian residents but they have been visible in significant number. Along with many Belgians, Brits Dutch and Scandinavians, as the summer approaches, we are now seeing their plans materialize to return to the region, concreting their aim to become a snow-bird or similar.
Quizzed as to the reasons for the surge in interest, we are surprised by the responses from our North American clients. We hear genuine accounts of the underlying fracturing of life in the US, especially, car jacking, lawlessness and gang culture. Combine this with the palpable fear that the US electorate will make another error of judgement in deciding their next President. The jingoism of the “MAGA” faithful appears to be alienating many families. Indeed, it appears to be doing everything but fostering the rebirth of greatness for American society while amply contributing to schism, hatred and distrust. It is really quite harrowing to hear. North Americans find new lives in Marbella.
Whatever your motivation, there is one key factor driving the desire of many to explore the prospect of property ownership in the Marbella region. At the core this seems to embrace a simple desire to want a make a structural change to secure an exponentially better quality of life.
Now that’s a real lifestyle change and I make no apologies for evangelizing the prism of enrichment to be enjoyed by you and your family from a considered and planned purchase and/or relocation. So what’s it really like to live in Marbella?
In truth it just gets better as the local administration, hand in glove with the Spanish state, seek to modernize the infrastructure with investments in, for example, health facilities that offer a welcoming hand to guests of international origin.
I have written before and, again, restate some of the compelling arguments as to Why is Marbella such an awesome location?
Like any prized location, Marbella really benefits from that cosmopolitan blend which sets it head and shoulders above the competition. It sees a Pilates, yoga and açaí bowl lifestyle blended with more traditional pursuits of padel tennis, golf and horse riding.
What’s even more beguiling, is that if you live around what is familiarly called Marbella’s “Golden Mile”, a prestigious stretch of the old N340 road between Marbella’s Piruli Tower (see our featured photo) and the Rio Verde river, that borders Puerto Banus, you will be astonished that most of the things you could possibly want are close by, roughly, within walking distance. Equally, being based within easy reach of Marbella’s Old Town, which is believed to date from the 7th century but much of which dates from the 15th century, is a simply beautiful and blessed location.
The truth is that the demographic profile of the typical new Marbella resident is getting younger and in so doing the local entrepreneurial community is acutely aware of their client’s insistence on quality. The offer of iconic branded residences and an accompanying lifestyle has clearly understood the need to deliver consistent luxury. Combine this positive direction of travel with Marbella’s, slightly understated, Old World charm of the beautiful Marbella Club Hotel and the Hotel Puente Romano and you will see the breadth of the prism that Marbella offers is ever broadening. Are younger property buyers really disinterested by cheap booze and all day breakfasts? And Is Marbella Cool Enough For You?
